My good friend M had a baby a few months back and I thought it would be nice to knit something for the wee one. I decided on these baby socks as they were a quick weekend project and I didn’t have to knit them in the round! Knitting in the round is great for sock knitting but can be a bit of a faff especially when knitting tiny socks.
I followed a pattern from the Debbie Bliss pattern book ‘Baby Cashmerino 2′. There are many lovely designs for babies in this book that are pretty straightforward to knit. I used Debbie Bliss Cashmerino wool and the socks turned out gorgeously soft!
The only problem was that the socks were so much larger than they were supposed to be. I followed the 3-6 month measurements but I think that they turned out to be better suited for 6-9 month olds! Maybe I knitted them pretty loosely (and of course I didn’t gauge so I can only blame myself!) Ah well the little bebe will be enjoying these around now I hope!
I hope the sun is shining for all of you as it is here in London today!
